Henry's Big Kaboom

Henry's Big Kaboom

A children's sing-along ballad
Written and illustrated by Mary Ames Mitchell

During the early days of the American Revolution, Colonel Henry Knox fetches the cannon and other guns from the recently captured Fort Ticonderoga and, with the help of patriotic countrymen, transports them over the lakes and through the forests of Massachusetts to Dorchester Heights overlooking Boston.

In an effort to appeal to her preschool grandchildren, Mary wrote this story as a ballad that can be sung to the folk tune “Turkey in the Straw.” The book includes chords for accompaniment.
